St Johns and Holy Rosary, Habitat for Humanity Zambia, July &August 2007

Before 27th July 2007. Pray that the team will continue to be successful in
their fundraising efforts. Pray that team members & their
families remain in good health. Pray that the team members
will be reassured in times of anxiety before they go away. Pray that God will go before them and prepare the way for them.

27th – 30th July 2007. Pray for safety; as the team travel and
for the people of Nkwazi, Zambia who will welcome the team.

31^st July-8th August 2007. Pray for the team that they remain in
good health on the building site. Pray for their experience
with the homeowners and that the team will be examples
of faith in action.

8th-11th August 2007 Pray for the team as they prepare to leave
the area. Pray that lives have been touched and that lasting
homes and relationships have been built. Pray for the team’s
safety as they travel home. Pray that team members will
keep in touch with each other and that they will
continue to be witnesses to their faith at home.

Meeting this thursday 14th in St Johns at 7.30. Important meeting with Jan Lindsay from Habitat on Thursday 21st at 7pm in St Johns Hall again.
The Sydney Lowry Trust have given us £1500 towards our trip which is teriffic.

Marathon Result

Just to inform the team that in spite of intensive training the Habitat Team that won the team marathon was not in fact ours. Pictures of some of our elite athletes can be viewed by clicking on link on the right of the screen.
Our Habitat team completed the marathon without major incident in 4h 05m 56s - coming in 754th out of 1626 teams. Would have done better except Stevie stopped to give a TV interview (not sure if he arranged a fee first) and Gavin's Dad got lost meaning Stevie had to wait 10 mins to hand over the baton. Johnny's cunning plan to run the last (easiest) leg was scuppered when he had to run down the Ravenhill Road in wind and torrential rain.

The Concert was a big success with all the audience and the performers having a great time. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Richard for all his hard work and I believe over £1000 was raised.

Hey Guys

Hope y'all are well. I am currently planning 2 events for May and am looking for some volunteers. The first event is a relay team in the City Marathon. The Marathon is on Monday 7th May 2007.

Ive done this many times over the last7 or 8 years. I promise its not too exhausting and there is still plenty of team for some training (begin with 1 mile and increase this by 1 mile every 3 weeks). The most you would be asked to "run/walk/jog/crawl" is around 5 miles.

So not only will it help get you in shape for building houses but you'll be raising some money for Zambia at the same time. If you might be interested let me know by middle February!

The second event I have planned (date to be confirmed) is a 70's evening for the middle of May. Instead of a ballot that evening I will be raising money in the run up to have my head shaved and my legs waxed (amount dependent)...if you might consider getting your hair shortened or your leg hair waxed(only one or two strips!)...please let me know...I promise its not extremely painful (just very sore)! Again if you might be interested, let me know within the next few weeks.

The Brick

Am excited that your team is looking forward to come to Zambia. I have attached our Global Village manual for Zambia. I hope it will give you more info about Zambia and also about HFH Zambia.

Getting back to your question, the weather is usually cool in August; it begins to be hot around Sept to October. Though it maybe a little hot during the day but it gets cooler in the night. No rain, so that is good.
I hope the manual will be of help.
